Failure as a Companion
Failure might be the last thing you want to think about when you’re dreaming of launching your own business. But hear me out, because this could change everything for you.
I know it sounds like a heavy way to start, but trust me, this one is important. When you’re stepping into something big and unknown, especially if that something is wrapped up in your passion, your talent, and even your story, it’s so easy to feel like every move you make is all or nothing. Like each step is a bet you’re making with your heart on the line.
If that’s you, I am challenging you to shift that perspective. What if failure wasn’t something to fear, but rather, a necessary companion in the journey? One that, believe it or not, can help you get exactly where you need to be.
The Real Obstacle Is Closer Than You Think
Most of the obstacles between where you are now and where you want to be aren’t out there somewhere—they’re right here, closer than you think. The doubts that keep you up at night, the stories you tell yourself about why you’re not enough yet, the hesitation that makes every step forward feel impossibly heavy.
I get it.
I really do.
That kind of noise can be paralyzing. But I want you to know that every single entrepreneur, every business owner you admire, every success story you read has heard that same noise. What sets them apart isn’t that they’re free from doubt. It’s that they’ve learned to turn the volume down and take action anyway. And you can do the same.
Adopt a Scientist’s Curiosity
Now, what if we approached this big, messy thing called entrepreneurship with less pressure and more curiosity?
Think about it: scientists don’t take their experiments personally. They just do the work. They try, they test, they tweak. There’s no shame when something doesn’t go as planned—it’s just information. It’s part of the process. Imagine adopting that mindset for your business. Every attempt, every launch, every idea is a chance to learn, to gather insight, and to grow. You don’t have to pretend you know it all, you don’t have to fake it or put on a show. You just have to be willing to be here, to be real, and to keep experimenting. To keep showing up for your work, for yourself, in small and honest ways.
The Power of Small Steps
So how do we actually do this? How do we go from being frozen by fear to stepping into curiosity?
The answer might sound simple, but it’s in the doing that we change. It starts with something small.
Fear thrives in that space between wanting and doing, so let’s close that gap.
This week, I want you to make a list of three things you’re willing to try. Just three small, actionable steps that make you feel a bit nervous but also a little bit excited. Pick one. And do it. Don’t wait for it to feel perfect. Don’t wait until you’re "ready." Because the truth is, readiness isn’t a feeling, it’s an action. And taking one small, messy step forward will always feel better than staying stuck in the same spot.
Maybe it’s sharing a piece of your story—the reason why you’re starting this journey. It could be filming a short video where you’re speaking directly to your audience, or posting a piece of writing you’ve created that you want to share with the world. Maybe it’s putting your first project out there, even if it’s a passion project, or sharing a photo of something you’re proud of online. The key is to choose something that feels a bit out of your comfort zone but still manageable … something that lights that little spark of excitement within you.
Just try.
Stay curious about the process.
Let go of the need for it to be flawless.
Authenticity + Experimentation = Growth
Here’s what I want you to take away from all of this: you don’t need to have it all figured out.
You don’t need to pretend you’re further along than you are. What you need is a willingness to show up and try. To put yourself out there, knowing that it might not always work, but also knowing that each step is one closer to where you want to be.
The businesses that grow and the entrepreneurs that thrive aren’t the ones who have everything polished and perfect; they’re the ones who are willing to stay in the game. To try, to learn, and to keep going. Your authenticity, your realness, your willingness to experiment … those are your superpowers.
They’re what will connect you with the people who need what only you can offer.
Let’s Take the Next Step Together
If this speaks to you, then you’re ready to quiet the noise, lean into curiosity, and start taking those brave steps forward, and I’d love for you to join us in The Bold Launch Course. I know how it feels to stand at the edge of your dreams, filled with fear and wondering if you’re truly ready. I spent far too long treating my failures like roadblocks instead of redirection that could show me what worked and what didn’t. But I finally adapted, and when things didn’t work out perfectly, I learned to stop taking it personally and grow from it.
From there, I found my way forward, learned solid business strategies, and created resources to help more women like you bring their ideas to life—quickly and with purpose. This course is here to help you iterate, grow, and move toward those dreams, all within a small community and with clear guidance along the way.
The Bold Launch begins on January 1st, 2025. What if this could be the year you finally launch your business?
