How to Move Forward When It Feels Like No One Believes in You

Feeling Invisible Doesn’t Mean You’re Invisible

There’s a special kind of ache that comes when it feels like no one sees your value. Like your ideas, dreams, and hard work are brushed aside as “silly” or “not enough.” I know that ache. I’ve lived it. But I also know something else: feeling invisible doesn’t mean you are.

You might be surrounded by people who don’t understand your vision, but that doesn’t mean your vision isn’t worth pursuing. There are people out there—people you haven’t met yet—who will see your brilliance. People who will need what you have to offer and who will believe in you, just as I do.

But first, I really hope you believe in you.

Step 1: Acknowledge the Hurt

Let’s start here: it’s okay to feel hurt when you aren’t supported. It’s okay to grieve the lack of encouragement from people you hoped would cheer you on. Pretending those feelings don’t exist won’t make them go away.

But once you’ve acknowledged the hurt, decide it won’t stop you. You’re allowed to feel disappointed and move forward anyway.

Step 2: Find the Voices That Will Lift You Up

If the voices around you aren’t lifting you up, find new ones. Surround yourself with people who understand your drive and believe in the power of what you’re building.

  • Join online communities: I found my first clients in Facebook groups full of female entrepreneurs who became my biggest supporters. They didn’t just see my ideas—they believed in them.

  • Seek out mentors: Look for people who’ve been where you are and are willing to share their insights. Their belief in you can help bridge the gap while you’re learning to believe in yourself.

  • Follow inspiring content: Podcasts, blogs, and social accounts can fill your mind with encouragement and remind you of what’s possible.

The right voices can drown out the wrong ones.

Step 3: Focus on Action, Not Approval

I spent years waiting for someone to give me permission to pursue my dreams. But the truth is, you don’t need permission. You need progress.

  • Start small. Take one step toward your goal every day. It might be teaching yourself a new skill, sending an email, or writing down your ideas.

  • Track your wins. When you feel like you’re not moving fast enough, look back at how far you’ve come.

Progress builds belief. And the more you believe in yourself, the less you’ll need anyone else’s approval.

Step 4: Remember Who You’re Doing This For

There are people out there who need what you have. People who are waiting for the business you’ll create, the service you’ll offer, or the impact only you can make.

When I started building my design studio, I had no idea the incredible women I’d meet—women who saw my work, trusted my vision, and told their friends. Strangers became clients, clients became supporters, and now I get to help women build their own dreams.

Someone out there is waiting for you to show up. Don’t let doubt keep you from finding them.

Step 5: Speak Kindly to Yourself

If no one around you is cheering you on, let me be the first:

  • You are capable of so much more than you think.

  • Your dreams are not silly, too big, or too small.

  • The life you want is worth working for.

Speak these truths to yourself every day, even when they feel hard to believe. Eventually, they’ll stick.

You Are Not Alone

If it feels like no one believes in you right now, I hope you’ll hear this: there are people out there who will. People who haven’t met you yet but already need what you have to offer. And while you’re waiting to meet them, I hope you’ll choose to believe in yourself.

One small, brave step forward is all it takes to start. You don’t need everyone to believe in you—you just need to begin.

Wishing you peace and progress,
